Solution
The correct option is B hinge , pivot 1) Pivot joint is also called a rotatory or trochoid joint. This allows swivelling movement and it is present between the first and second cervical vertebrae i.e C1 (atlas) and C2 (axis). This is also called an atlanto-axial joint. It is the type of synovial joint. 2) A hinge joint is a type of synovial joint that allows motion in one plane and this is made up of two or more bones with the articular surfaces that are covered by synovial fluid which reduces friction. 3) Gliding joint - it is also called a plane joint. It permits limited movement and allows slipping of one smooth surface over another. For example, movement between the carpals and tarsals. 4) Saddle- this type of joint doesn’t allow rotation but allows movement back and forth and side to side. This can be seen between the carpal and metacarpal of thumb.
