(a) Food: The food production increases in arithmetical progression while the population grows in a geometrical progression. It means that the food produced will fall short for the rising population. This in turn will lead to undernourishment, famine and starvation.
(b) Forest: The forests provide us with timber, medicines, gums, resins and maintain the oxygen percentage in the atmosphere. Due to the rapid increase in population, the forests are being rapidly cleared to meet the demands of increased population for housing and agricultural land. This unchecked deforestation has caused droughts, floods, soil erosion and extinction of several animal and plant species.
