Let the total number of birds be x2.According to the question:x24 + (x29 + x24) + 7x + 56 = x2 9x2 + 4x2 + 9x2 + 252x + 201636 = x2 22x2 + 252x + 2016 = 36x2 14x2 252x 2016 = 0 x2 18x 144 = 0 x2 24x + 6x 144 = 0 x(x 24) + 6(x 24) = 0 (x 24)(x + 6) = 0 x = 24 or x = 6 x = 24 ( Number of birds cannot be negative) Number of birds = x2 = 576
