Solution

The correct option is A 7.03 billion.
1.2 billion live in rich countries and their growth rate is 0.25% every year.
After one year :
PR=1.2+0.25100×1.2

=1.2(1+0.25100)

After 2 years:
PR=1.2(1+0.255100)+0.25100(1.2(1+0.25100))

=1.2(1+0.25100)2

Continuing for 5 years we get, PR=1.2(1+0.25100)5

Similarly for developing countries :

PL=5.4(1+1.5100)5

P=PR+PL

=5.4(1+1.5100)5+1.2(1+0.25100)5

=7.03 billion.
