∴ No. of swans playing =72√x
∵ remaining 2 are quarrelling in the water
⟹72√x+2=x
⟹x−72√x−2=0
⟹(√x)2−2×72×2√x+4916−4916−2=0
⟹(√x)2−2×74×√x+(74)2−8116=0
⟹(√x−74)2−(94)2=0
⟹(√x−74+94)(√x−74−94)=0
⟹(√x−74+94)=0 or (√x−74−94)=0
⟹√x=12 or √x=4
⟹x=16.
Thus, no. of swans playing =72×4=14
Hence, total no. of swans is 16 and playing swans are 14.
