Antacid:-
The substances which neutralize the excessive acid produced by the stomach without any side effects are called antacids.
Out of Na₂CO₃and NaHCO₃,Sodium bicarbonate(NaHCO3) can be used as an antacid because:-
Na₂CO₃ is more alkaline than NaHCO₃ and can burn the throat if swallowed.
While NaHCO₃ being mildly basic does not harm.
Therefore, only NaHCO₃ should be used as an antacid.
