Out of phenol and alcohol which is more acidic. Why?

Dear Student,
The acidity of any compound is generally directly proportional to its tendency to release H+ ions.
Phenol is more acidic because when it loses one H+ ion it forms phenoxide ion which is stable(resonance stabilised).
