Question

Outer surface area of a hollow iron sphere is 1256 cm2. If the thickness of iron is 1 cm, find the volume of air inside the sphere. Take π=3.14

Open in App
Solution

Surface area of the sphere 4πr2 = 1256m2
4 × 3.14× r2=1256cm2
r=10cm
Thickness of the iron = 1cm
So, inner radius = 9 cm

Therefore, volume of air = inner volume of sphere
=43 ×π × r3
=43 × π × 93
=3052.08 cm3
