  1. Ovulation is the process of the release of eggs from the ovaries.
  2. It occurs under the influence of the luteinizing hormone.
  3. This hormone is secreted by the anterior pituitary gland.
  4. Rapid secretion of this hormone during the middle of the cycle is called LH surge.
  5. This surge induces the rupture of the Graafian follicle.
  6. The Graafian follicle then releases the ovum.
