Oxidation number of an element can be zero - True or False?
True
Oxidation number is the residual charge left on the atom when other atoms are removed as ions.
The oxidation number of all the atoms of different elements in their respective elementary states is taken to be zero. For example, inN2, Cl2, H2, P4, S8, O2, Br2, Na, Fe, Ag etc. the oxidation number of each atom is zero.
