Question

1. how can angle of incidence is =angle of refraction

in case of reflection it is possible according to law .but reflection is not similar to refraction?

2.as it is said angle of incidence is =angle of emergence.then we can say that when angle of incidence increases then angle of emergence also increases?iam right.

Solution

If both the media are having the same refractive index, then angle of incidence, angle of emergence and angle of refraction are same.

If the incident ray falls perpendicularly on the second medium, then the incident angle and refracted angle are same.

In the above cases, actually refraction does not take place. We say that a ray is refracted, when it deviated from its straight line path. In both of the cases, the incident ray does not deviate from its straight line path.
