Solution

Both the given reactions are neutralisation reactions in which an acid reacts with a base to form salt and water.

1) When sodium hydroxide reacts with hydrochloric acid, sodium chloride (salt) is formed along with water. Following is the chemical equation for the reaction

NaOH + HCl → NaCl + H2O

2) When potassium hydroxide reacts with hydrochloric acid, potassium chloride and water are formed. Following is the chemical equation for the reaction

KOH + HCl → KCl + H2O
