Solution

An electroscope is a simple apparatus which is used to measure the static electricity or the electrical charges that are freely flowing in the atmosphere. So, if the electroscope is positively charged then it will repel the same charge and attract the opposite charge. Therefore, for a positively charged electroscope, charge p is positively charge as it diverges away from the electroscope and charge q is negatively charge as it get collapsed in it.
