Question

400 J of heat is produced in 4s in a 4 Ohm resistor. Find potential difference across the resistor.

Open in App
Solution

We know,

Heat produced, H = i2Rt

=> H = (V/R)2Rt

=> H = V2t/R

=> V2 = HR/t

=> V = (400×4/4)1/2

=> V = 20 V

This is the required voltage.
