Question

a body is projected horizontally from the top of a cliff with a velocity of 9.8 m/s . what time elapses before the horizontal and vertical velocity become equal? g =9.8 m/s2

Open in App
Solution

As the horizontal and the vertical components of the velocity are independent of each other, you just need to find the time taken for the vertical component to become 9.8 m/s.

As the body is projected horizontally, initial vertical velocity is zero.

So u = 0

v = 9.8 m/s

a = g =9.8 m/s2

We know,

v = u + at

Find t by substituting in this equation.
