Question

A body of mass 2 kg is moving with a uniform speed of 30 m/s. A force of 6 N is applied against the direction of motion. How much distance will the body move in 5s after that?

Given,
Mass of body=2 kg
Initial velocity, u=30 m/s
Time, t=5 s
Force, F=ma=-6N
or a=-6/2=-3 m/s2
v=u+at=30-3 x 5=15 m/s
Again using,
v2-u2=2as152-302=2×(-3)×sor s=112.5 m
