Question

a body of mass 60 kg is moving with a velocity of 54m/h. it is brought to rest by a force of 20N.Find the distance travelled

Open in App
Solution

mass = 60kg

F = 20N

Since, F =ma

= 20 =60a

=60a =20

= a =20/60

So, a = 1/3 = 0.33 m/sec2

V = 0

u = 54m/hr

= 54/3600

= 0.015m/s

Since, v2 = u2 - 2 as(as it is retardation)

= 0 = (0.015)2-2×1/3 s

= 0.000225 -2/3 s = 0

= 2/3s = 0.000225

= s = 0.000225×3/2

= s = 0.000675/2

So, s = 0.0003375 m
