Question

a car is moving with uniform velocity of 54 km per hour a)What is the kinetic energy of a boy of mass 40kg sitting in a car b)Suppose the car is moving with uniform velocities 18km/h,36km/h,54km/h,72km/h at some interval of time.Calculate the kinetic energy of the body sitting in the car at these intervals.Plot a graph between the kinetic energy and the velocity. What is the nature of a curve?

Solution

Given:

Uniform velocity of the car, v = 54 km/h

(a)KE of the boy = (1/2)mv2

(b) Similarly we can get the KE of the boy at the different instant of time with respect to the given value of uniform velocities.

Now to draw the graph you don't need any rocket science decide velocity as on X-axis and KE as on Y-axis divided with suitable class and mark all the 4 corresponding points on the graph and witness the parabola curve since

KE ∝ V2
