A card is drawn from an ordinary pack of playing cards and a person bets that it is a spade or an ace. What is the probability that he wins the bet ?

Total no. of cards = 52
No. of cards which are spade or ace = 13 + 3 = 16
Thus, the probability of getting cards which are either an ace or spade = 1652 = 413
Therefore the probability of winning the bet = 413
