a circular cycle track has a circumference of 314m. AB is one of its diameter. A cyclist travells from A to B along the circular path. With a velocity of constant magnitude 15.7m/sec. Find the distance covered by the cyclist , displacement of the cyclist if AB represents north -south , average velocity of cyclist.
Let ‘r’ be the radius of the track.
So, 2×3.14×r = 314
=> r = 50 m
So, AB = 2r = 100 m
Now,
Distance covered by the cyclist = ½ × circumference = ½ × 314 m = 157 m
Displacement = AB directed from north to south = 100 m directed from north to south
The cyclist moves with constant speed 15.7 m/s from A to B.
So, time taken is = distance/speed = 157/15.7 = 10 s
So, average velocity = displacement/time = 100/10 = 10 m/s directed from north to south.
