The work done in pumping the water out of the vessel will be equal to the potential energy stored in the water,i.e.,

W = mgh

W = m×9.8×1
W = 9.8
×m

m = volume
× density
m = 1m3 × 1000 Kg/m3

m=1000 Kg

Therefore work done,

W = 9.8×1000
W = 9800 J
