A drunkard walking in a narrow lane takes 5 steps forward and 3 steps backward, followed again 5 steps forward and 3 steps back ward, and so on. Each step is 1 m long ad requires 1s. Determine ow long the drunkard take to fall in a pit 13 m away from the start.

The effective distance travelled by drunkard in 5 steps = 5 *1= 5 meters

There fore he takes 5 steps to move 5 meters, Now he will have to cover 8 meters more to reach the pit, for which he has to take 8 forward steps. , therefore he will have to take 5+8=13 steps to move 13 meters.

Thus he will fall into the pit after 13 steps i.e after 13 seconds from the start.
