Question

A force F while acting on a body displaces it by a distance D in direction different from the direction of the force .Write the expression for the work done by the force.

Open in App
Solution

According to the given question the body has displacement in the opposite direction of force hence the angle made between the force and the displacement is 1800 (since the force vector and the displacement vector is in opposite direction to each other). hence now using the formula of work done W = F D cos180ā€‹0
W = F D (-1) (cos180ā€‹0 = -1)
W = -FD joule.
