Question

a force is applied on a body. if the mass of the body is doubled and the force remains constant what will be the acceleration ?

Open in App
Solution

According to the given question we know that the force on any body is equal to product of its mass and acceleration
F = m x a
now as F is constant (as given in question) the relation ship between mass and acceleration will becomes
a ∝ 1m from this we can see that mass is inversely proportional to acceleration
now as mass is doubled the acceleration becomes half
hence we can now say that if force is constant the and on increasing the mass two times the acceleration decreases by 2 times.
