Question

a freely falling object is a object on which only gravity is acting but does air friction acts on it ?

Open in App
Solution

When an object falls through air, there are two forces acted on the object.
1-Weight (Due to gravity)
2-Drag (Caused by air resistance/air friction)
But freely falling object does not experience the above drag force. Free fall can occur only if the object is falling in vacuum. It means there are no air molecules present to slow down the fall.
