Distance travelled to school, d = 1km
time taken to travel to school, t₁ = 1/2 = 0.5 hr
time taken to travel back, t₂ = 1/3= 0.33 hr
total distance travelled by the girl, D = 2d = 2 km
total time taken by the girl, t = t₁+t₂ = 0.83 hr
Average speed = D/t = 2/0.83 = 2.41 km/hr
