Open in App
Solution

Here, velocity of river water, vr=5 m/s
Width of river, =60 m
Time taken by man in crossing river, t=5 s
Velocity of man in still water, vm=?

If vR is the resultant velocity of river water and of the man, then

vR=605=12 m/s

Thus, vm=vR2-vr2 =122-52 =10.9 m/s
