Let ρ be the density of the metal rod.When we connect the battery between the face 1×1/2 cm2,thena area of crossection is 1×1/2 = 0.5 cm2 = 0.00005 m2length of the conductor = 10 cm = 0.1 mresistance = ρ×lengtharea = ρ×0.10.00005 = ρ×2000 ohmWhen battery is connected between the face 1×10then area of crossection = 1×10 = 10 cm2 = 0.001 m3length = 0.5 cm = 0.005 mresistance = ρ×0.0010.005 = ρ5 ohm
