and the larger drum = 2x litres
total contents in drum = x+2x=3x litres
therefore, acc. to the question,
milk in the smaller drum = x/2
and milk in larger drum = 2x/4=(x/2) litres

fraction of milk to that of water = x/3x= 1/3
