A mitosis type of cell division is helpful in the growth of an organism and can cause cancer when it gets uncontrolled. How is this type of division controlled normally?
Mitosis is controlled normally by group of proteins called Cyclins. They regulate cell cycle by activating Cyclin- dependent kinase (CdK) enzymes. Different types of cyclins play role at different stages of cell cycle.
During cancer, cells undergo uncontrolled cell division. They do not respond to Cyclins.
