Dear Student,

1) The patient is suffering from Tuberculosis.

2) Its causative organism is Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. Mycobacterium tuberculosis is a pathogenic bacteria which primarily affects lung but can also spread to other parts of the body.

3) This bacteria spreads through inhalation of M. Tuberculosis bacteria which is present in airborne particles.

4) Preventive measures for tuberculosis are:
a) Tuberculosis can be prevented by the vaccination with BCG vaccine (Bacille Calmette-Guerin). It is very effective in preventing tuberculosis in children but not in adults.
b) Tuberculosis can be prevented if the affected person is diagnosed early. Early treatment may prevent the further complications caused by the disease.
c) Because tuberculosis is an airborne disease, it may spread to other individuals when affected person coughs or sneezes. This risk can be prevented by good ventilation, hygiene, and light availability. UV light is known to be effective in killing Mycobacterium.
