A person rubs a coat vigorously by using a brush to remove dust. How?

The rubbing is an act of friction if friction is not present than dust will not come out from the surface of the coat . assume that friction is not present the brush will slip from the coat and dust will not come out . hence friction is necessary so that dust will come out.
