A person wanted the plants in his garden to look shiny and bright, so coated them with oil. Do you think it is helpful to the plant ?

No, this treatment is harmful to plant. It is because oil coating will block the sunlight and leaves will not be able to trap sunlight. Thus, photosynthesis will stop and ultimately the leaves will die. When the leaves are gone, plant will not be able to survive and it will also die.
