Solution

Let the marked price of the articel be Rs xDiscount = 10%Hence C.P of the shopkeeper = Rs (x-10x100)=Rs9x10Given 9x10=3600x=3600×109=4000Marked price = Rs 4000Marked up price = Rs(4000+15% of 4000)=Rs(4000+600)=Rs 4600S.P = Rs 4876Sales tax = S.P - Marked up price = Rs(4876-4600)=Rs276i)Rate of sales tax = Sales taxMarked up price×100=2764600×100=6%ii)Profit of shopkeeper = S.P (without sales tax)-C.P =Rs(4600-3600)=Rs1000
