The mass percentage of a component of a solution is given by the following relation

Mass percentage of the component = (mass of the component in the solution / mass of solution) X 100

where mass of solution = mass of solute + mass of solvent

Here, we are given that 2g of substance A is added to 18g of water. So

mass percentage of component A = [2 / (2 + 18)] X 100 = 10 %

Hence the mass percentage of substance A is 10 %.
