A solution is prepared by adding 2 g of substance A to 18g of water.Caluculate the mass percent of the solutoin?
The mass percentage of a component of a solution is given by the following relation
Mass percentage of the component = (mass of the component in the solution / mass of solution) X 100
where mass of solution = mass of solute + mass of solvent
Here, we are given that 2g of substance A is added to 18g of water. So
mass percentage of component A = [2 / (2 + 18)] X 100 = 10 %
Hence the mass percentage of substance A is 10 %.
