Question

A torch bulb, when cold has 1 ohm resistance.It draws a current of 0.3 A from a sorce of 3 V. Calculate the Resistance of the Bulb when glowing and explain the reason for difference in resistance

Open in App
Solution

Initial resistance = 1 ohm
When the bulb is on
Given
I = 0.3A
V = 3 V
R = V/I = 3/0.3 = 10 ohm
The resistance is higher when the bulb is glowing because the resistance increases with the increase in temperature.
