Solution

Given,
Resistance of first wire, R=1 ohmWhen this wire is stretched twice its length, then according to R=ρLA,The resistance of second wire will beR'=ρL'A'=ρ (2L)A/2 (Since the volume of the wire remains same)=4ρLA=4R=4×1=4 ohmPower developed across first wire, P=V2R=421=16 WPower developed across second wire, P'=V2R' (Voltage remains same in parallel combination)P'=424=164=4 WThus, P:P'=16:4=4:1
