Question

A young green plant receives sunlight from one direction only. What will happen to stem and roots?

Solution

The stem would bend because growth would progress in the direction in which light is falling. This is due to concentration of auxins and the response is called phototropism.

Roots are negatively phototropic and would grow deeper in presence of light.
