acceleration due to gravity acts only in downward direction , then why do a liquid in a container exerts pressure on its walls ?
how do the liquids apply thrust on the walls of the container ?
Dear Student!!
When liquid is kept in a container, the molecules of the liquid in random motion colliding with the walls of the container and re bounce from them. They suffer a change in the momentum, due to which they transfer some momentum to the walls. This momentum transferred to the walls per unit time by the mol of the liquid accounts for the thrust of liquid on the walls of the container.
