Solution

Alcohols donot contain OH- ion. The –OH group is covalently bonded to a carbon in a molecule of alcohol. Therefore, it doesnot give OH ions in water like NaOH.They are only slightly acidic as in some reaction they donate the proton of -OH group and slightly basic as they accept proton from strong acids.
