Question

Aluminium container is use to store FeSO4 after some days holes apear in the aluminium container.

I s it write or wrong. Give reason in support of your answer with reaction if any

Hi,

Aluminium metal is more reactive metal than iron metal in the reactivity series and hence aluminium displaces iron from iron sulphate and it is itself eaten away to form aluminium sulphate and iron metal which settles at the bottom of container. the reaction involved can be represented as:

Al + 3FeSO4 →Al2(SO4)3 + 3Fe
