Though it is commonly a type of cell division, it is considered reproduction in Amoeba because it is a unicellular organism. At the end of the cell division, two cells are formed which further mature and divide. This way, the population of this unicellular organism increases. So, it is a form of reproduction and the cells so formed are called daughter cells.
