An ant moves from one corner of the hall to the diagonally opposite corner. If the dimensions of the hall are 8 m * 6 m , the displacement of the ant is _____ m . HOW ? and ofcourse ANSWER.

the displacement of the ant (distance from one corner to other corner) would be equal to the length of the diagonal of the room.

The length of the diagonal is given as (using simple Pythagoras Theorem)

d = (82 + 62)1/2

or

d = (100)1/2

thus, the length of the diagonal will be, d = 10 m

so, the displacement of the ant will be d = 10m
