Question

An electric lamp is marked 220V, 100WIt is used for 5 hours daily calculate- 1) its resistance while glowing.

2) energy consumed in kwh/day?

Open in App
Solution

we know that

P = V2/R

so, resistance is given as

R = V2/P

here,

V = 220 volts

P = 100 W

so,

R = 2202 / 100

thus, resistance is given as

R = 484 ohms

and

we also have

E = P × t

= 100W × 5h = 500 Wh

or

electrical energy consumed

E = 0.5 kWh
