Question

an electric oven which draws 9 A current is operated in a domestic electric circuit that has a current carrying rating of 5 A. what will happen to the electric circuit and why?

Solution

The current drawn by the electric oven is 9 A whereas the fuse in the circuit is only 5A capacity. When a high current of 9A flows through the 5A fuse, the fuse wire will get heated too much, melt and break the circuit.
Thus, when a 9A rating electric oven is operated in a circuit having 5A fuse, the fuse will blow off cutting off the power supply in this circuit.
