Physical characteristics of the element (metal) are :
1. The elements possess a shiny surface or metallic lustre.
2. It can be easily drawn into thin sheets i.e. it is malleable.
3. It is a good conductor of heat and electricity.

Chemical properties of the element are:
1. It reacts with dilute acids to form the corresponding salt and release hydrogen gas, H2.

2. It can displace less reactive metals than itself from their salt solutions.
