an enemy plane is flying horizontally at an altitude of 2km with a speet of 300m/sec .An army man with an anti-aircraft gun on the ground sights the enemy plane when it is directly over head and fires a shell with a muzzle speed of 600m/s . At wat angle with the verticle should the gun be fired so as to hit the plane?

distance covered by vertical component of velocity of shell in horizontal direction in time t =600sinθ t

distance covered by plane in time t=300t

when the shell hit the plane the horizontal distance covered by both plane and shell will be same

600sinθ t=300t

sinθ=1/2

θ=30° with the vertical ans
