An object is placed in front of a plane mirror . If the mirror is moved away from the object through a distance x , by how much distance will the image move?

The image moves to a distance of 2x from the object. That is, the distance between object and the plane mirror is x, and the distance between the image and plane mirror is also x (though it is imaginary). Therefore, the total distance between the object and the image will be 2x.
