Solution

Causes that led to the decline of Indian Weaving Industry in the 19th century were:

a. Development of cotton industries in England, due to which the export market of cotton weavers collapsed.

b. Their goods were subjected to heavy import duties while entering England.

c. Manchester machine made goods were flooded in Indian markets which were relatively cheaper, as a result Indian weavers had to face fierce and unequal competition. This largely affected their local market.

d.With the outbreak of Civil war in America, weavers could not get good supply of quality cotton. It increased the demand of raw cotton which Indian weavers had to buy at exorbitant price.

e. Factories were set up in India, by the end of 19th century which too produced cheap machine made goods and started flooding the local markets.
