Phloem	Xylem
1.Living tissue 2.phloem transports food 3.It consists of tracheids , vessels , xylem parenchyma and xylem fibres 3.The movement of food is bidirectional.	Non living at maturity xylem transports water and nutrients It consists of sieve cells , sieve tube elements , phloem parenchyma and phloem fibres The movement is unidirectional from root to shoot system only.
